What’s the ideal nighttime routine? It’s the one that provides you with THE BEST sleep and energy to tackle the coming day. And how can we achieve that? By carefully planning our evening to ease our morning routine.
As corporate girlies, planning our evening routine is even more critical. We don’t want to arrive home at 7 pm and have to work out, wash our hair, cook our dinner from scratch, and make our to-do lists. We hardly would have time to wind down if that was the case.
Thanks to this fail-proof guide, you will learn how to plan your bedtime routine efficiently so that your morning routine will be a cakewalk. You will make the time for your relaxing night rituals while still getting a lot done. Ready? Let’s dive in!

Weekly Planning for a Succesful Evening Routine
As busy corporate girlies, we want to use our time wisely. So why include all the tasks that take most of the time in our everyday nighttime routine when we can spread them all over a week? Ideally, you don’t want all the tasks below packed into one evening to avoid getting into bed too late.
- Meal Prep: To save time, having some vegetables ready to be added to your meal is crucial. Vegetables can take 30 to 40 minutes to cook, depending on the cooking method. Indeed, you can multitask while cooking, but you will always need time to peel and chop them. It’s much easier to have them ready. You don’t need to be a meal prep pro to do that. You need to prep some vegetables and grains (if you want) in advance. You can do it easily in one hour on the weekend when you have more time to cook.

Workouts: if you are a late-afternoon workout girlie like me, planning your weekly workouts will help you make time to exercise efficiently without rushing. If you are lucky enough to work from home sometimes, schedule your workouts on those days. Right after your work day, jump into your workout outfits. Opt for a light walk if you still want to exercise when you arrive home a bit later instead.
Hair wash: if you have long hair and are obsessed with hair care, washing your hair can feel like a marathon (that sometimes you don’t want to run, let’s be honest). However, no one wants to go to the office with greasy hair. So, planning your hair wash days wisely is the way to survive.
I always plan one hair wash on a Friday evening (if I have something planned for the night) or Saturday to have the cleaned hair on Monday. The second hair wash day is a work-from-home day for me.

If you don’t have WFH days, plan your hair wash for the day you do not work out. This is particularly relevant if your hair wash routine takes time. Depending on the workout, you will not necessarily need to wash your hair that day (e.g., weight lifting). You need to dedicate time to that, so ensure you don’t have another long task in your schedule.
Now that we have covered the tasks WE NEED to plan every week let’s discover the ultimate guide to the perfect night routine.
The Ultimate Nighttime Routine Guide For Corporate Girlies
1. Empty & Re-Prepare Your Work Bag
Taking out and washing your dirty food container is the first thing you should do once home (it’s even better if you clean it in the office). After unpacking my bag, re-packing is the most logical thing to do. You can already pack your lunch and store it in the fridge for the day after.
This is where meal prep comes in handy; you can throw some rice, vegetables, and chickpeas in a jar with a good sauce, and you are good to go. You don’t need to cook anything from scratch.

2. Prepare Your Work-Day Outfit
Regarding the evening routine, I’m all about duties first and pleasures later! If you are like me, this is the time to think about your outfit for the day after. Prepare everything, from your socks to your hair accessories. It’s one less thing to think about in the morning!
3. Remove Your Makeup
![bedtime routines](https://ariaofgrowth.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Night-Ritual-683x1024.png)
There’s nothing more “I’m finally at home” vibe than removing your makeup almost immediately. This is the best signal to let my body know I can relax. Removing your makeup and the dirt on your face after a long day outside makes you feel clean and refreshed.
You can opt for a cleanser to wash your face, but ensure it does not dry your skin. I usually don’t do my skincare now, so I don’t want my skin to feel dry.
4. Indulge In Your Shower
This is the moment when you can recharge. So, take the time you need and don’t rush in. You can dry brush before the shower to awaken your lymphatic system and exfoliate your body’s skin.
While I shower, I often imagine the stress and issues that may have arisen during the day, falling at my feet and disappearing in the shower drain. This helps my mind to relax and recharge at the same time. After showering, use body moisturizer or body oil to treat your body skin, and you will feel better.
5. Time For Dinner
![nighttime routine](https://ariaofgrowth.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Nighttime-Routine-Ideas-683x1024.png)
This is the moment when I usually look forward to sitting with something to eat and my comfort TV series in front of me. Therefore, I hardly spend more than 15 minutes preparing my dinner. I usually have some veggies and barley ready to be heated in a pan (Meal Prep, ladies!).
You can use your cooking time to prepare a piece of meat or fish, and YOU ARE DONE. Nothing too complicated, and one or a maximum of two pans to wash.
6. Write Down Your To-Do List
Planning your next day now is the best thing you can do for your nerves (and your sleep), and you won’t need to think about it anymore. If you are a corporate girly, you likely have busy days with meetings, presentations, and deadlines.
Even if you likely have pre-planned your weekly duties, reminding your brain what’s to come is a good idea. You can make sure you have everything done and dusted. You can check errands you have to run and add in last-minute emergencies. This allows you to be ready and productive for the day before and avoid nasty surprises.
7. Prepare Your Breakfast
If you are a sleep lover, you may be happy to dedicate more time to it in the morning than “wasting” time preparing your breakfast. After dinner and before cleaning your cooking tools, it may be the perfect moment to meal prep your on-the-go breakfast and have it ready for the morning after.

7. Wash Your Dishes and Clean Your Space
There’s probably nothing I hate more than cleaning dishes. However, I wouldn’t say I like disorder, either. So, having fewer dishes to clean is the right compromise for me!
![night rituals](https://ariaofgrowth.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Bedtime-Routines-1-683x1024.png)
If you are anything like me, there’s no better time to do it than RIGHT AFTER DINNER! If you procrastinate on that, it will be even worse. Just let me tell you that we need a clear space for a clear mind, and no one likes to see a mountain of dishes to clean right after waking up. It will ruin your mood.
After cleaning your dishes (and the kitchen), it’s time to tidy up a bit. Use the hoover where you need, tidy up your clothes, and just put everything in its place. This will make you feel much more accomplished and ready to wind down.
8. Skin Care Routine As The Last “Light Exposure” Moment
The skincare routine perfectly bridges what I must and love to do for a successful nighttime routine (and I am a skincare enthusiast). This is the perfect time for the skincare routine cause by the time you are in bed winding down, you don’t want to be too exposed to solid light anymore.
Light exposure increases alertness and decreases melatonin production, making it more difficult to fall asleep.
9. No Screen Time Before Bed (If Possible)
![bedtime routines](https://ariaofgrowth.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Nighttime-Routine-2-683x1024.png)
I would love to do this, but unfortunately, being in a long-distance relationship, the evening is the only time we can “spend with each other.” However, I’d say that I plan my sleeping time based on the time I turn off my phone, and thanks to this method, I sleep very well!
At least 30 minutes (or 1 hour if you can) before falling asleep, you should put away your phone and act as If you were already sleeping. You don’t turn any light on and don’t reply to messages anymore.
10. The Real Self-Care Moment
Finally, after all your duties, you can relax! This is the moment to take out your journal and write your thoughts about the day. You can put on your favorite pre-sleep meditation and calm your nerves. You can read your favorite book to let your body know it’s time to sleep. This is the real me time you should aim for.
